On January 14, Hoi An Cultural Center announced that a vibrant celebration awaits the arrival of the 2014 Lunar New Year, the Year of the Wood Horse.
Especially during the New Year's Eve, there will be lion and dragon dance performances, bell ringing, traditional drum ceremonies, and a fireworks display at 2 locations: An Hoi Sculpture Garden and Cua Dai Port.
This year, the Tet festival is intertwined with the 6th Lantern Festival in Hoi An, happening from the night of January 28 (28th of the twelfth lunar month) to February 5 (the 6th day of Tet). The festival includes lantern art competitions, commercial lantern displays, and artistic lantern arrangements, creating a luminous and colorful atmosphere in the ancient town and An Hoi Sculpture Garden, along with spring couplets and artistic scenes of Hoi An (flower gardens, fish, ornamental birds, etc.).

Notably this year, the 'Childhood Day with Hoi An Lanterns' competition at 8:30 am on January 28 (28th Tet) at An Hoi Sculpture Garden promises to be a fantastic experience for young artisans and children engaged in traditional crafts.
In the festive atmosphere of each Tet season, the people and visitors of Hoi An once again enjoy the Tet flower market along Tran Hung Dao Street, Nguyen Hue Street, and Hoang Dieu Street from January 25 to January 30 (from the 25th of the twelfth lunar month to the 30th Tet day).
Festival of Tet Cakes for the Needy set for the morning of 28/01 (28 Tet) at Hoi An Museum, featuring competitions in making rolled cakes, preparing candied fruits, and gifting Tet presents to the underprivileged. The cake wrapping and cooking competition will create a warm spring atmosphere for families and neighbors to gather around the Tet cake pot.

During the 'Three Tet Days, Seven Spring Days' at Song Hoai Square, there will be various children's games, modern games, and lotto games from the 1st to the 6th day of Tet. Each night will host competitions for different age groups, including 'Young Voices,' 'Beautiful Dance Duets,' 'Hiphop Groups,' and themed music nights. The water puppet theater from the ancient capital of Hue will perform at An Hoi Sculpture Garden from the 3rd Tet night to the Full Moon Festival. Welcoming the new year, local fishermen eagerly participate in the crossboat racing on the Hoai River on the morning of the 5th Tet.
In the communes/wards, there will be street lantern decorations from January 22 to February 15 (from the 22nd of the twelfth lunar month to the 16th of the first lunar month). Decoration competitions will take place in residential areas, and a 'Celebrating the New Year' decoration competition is dedicated to businesses on Lac Long Quan and Au Co streets. Tet poles will be set up from the 30th to the 7th day of the first lunar month (from January 30 to February 6) at historical sites, temples, shrines, and ancestral churches. Simultaneously, entertainment hubs will be organized in villages and blocks.
Additionally, at the Bồ Lúa culinary area (Vong Nhi village, Cam Thanh commune) will be the venue for “Recreating the traditional Tet space of Hoi An countryside” from the 28th Tet to the 7th day of the first lunar month.
