Despite being relatively unknown, Hòn Ngư Island in Nghệ An boasts its own untouched charm that captivates every visitor at first sight.
Hòn Ngư Island – A Hidden Gem of Tranquil Pebble Beaches in Nghệ An
When we think of islands in Central Vietnam, places like Lý Sơn Island, Cù Lao Chàm, and Kỳ Co often come to mind as paradises for those seeking to escape the city bustle. However, few are aware that in the sunny land of Nghệ An lies an island with a rather unique name – Hòn Ngư.

Located off the coast of Nghệ An province, just 4 km from Cửa Lò Beach, Hòn Ngư consists of two islets: a larger one standing at 133 meters and a smaller one at 88 meters above sea level. Due to their close proximity, locals often refer to them as the Twin Fish Islands. Transportation to the islands can be arranged via boat or canoe, with prices ranging around 180,000 VND per person, departing from either the Lan Châu port or Cửa Lò Beach.

Despite being relatively unknown, Hòn Ngư Island possesses its own unique raw beauty that leaves every visitor in awe at first sight. You'll be pleasantly surprised to find that Hòn Ngư boasts a kilometer-long stretch of pebble beach, smoothed and rounded by the sea over time, in various sizes. For those who enjoy capturing Instagram-worthy shots, the pebble beach or the pier are spots you shouldn't miss.

Here, you can also embark on a trek around the island to enjoy the fresh sea breeze and cool shade. Afterwards, head west to the Fish Temple (Bai Chua) – an ancient temple built in the 13th century consisting of upper and lower temples nestled under lush green trees. A special feature within the temple courtyard is the Jade Well (or Divine Well), the only spot on the island with fresh water that never runs dry.

If you find wandering around the island tiresome, why not try venturing to the rocky beach to the north of the island and immerse yourself in the clear blue sea, or go fishing on a bamboo basket boat, visit the fish farming area, and indulge in seafood right on the island with countless exciting experiences.
