American billionaire Elon Musk currently oversees 5 companies including Tesla, Twitter, SpaceX, Boring Company, and Neuralink.
Elon Musk stated, 'A day in my life is incredibly long and intricate, something you can hardly imagine. There are constant shifts in context, and adapting to them can be quite uncomfortable.'
The billionaire revealed that he usually allocates each day to one company he runs, but sometimes tasks overlap because it's not always possible to stick to the plan.
For instance, on a 'Tesla day,' he might have to quickly deal with tasks and spend the evening handling work for Twitter. The next day, he'll dedicate half a day to SpaceX and the other half to a company needing priority attention.
He mentioned that managing time is challenging due to the constant intertwining of tasks.
Typically, CEOs would have a team of secretaries or assistants for support. Musk shared that he also has a part-time assistant, but he still manages his own schedule.
Back in February, Musk revealed to investor Ron Baron that since late October last year, when he took over Twitter, his workload has increased from 80 hours to over 120 hours per week.
Musk said, 'I sleep, wake up, work, sleep, wake up, work. That routine goes on seven days a week. And I don't have any other choice.'
Musk mentioned during a late 2022 Saturday Night Live appearance that he usually goes to bed around 2 or 3 in the morning. He sleeps about 6 hours and immediately checks his phone for any urgent situations upon waking up.
Experts argue that the American billionaire is involved in too many companies and is overloaded. Managing 5 companies simultaneously as a CEO won't be effective, according to David Yoffie, a professor at Harvard Business School.
Last week, Musk announced that he has found someone to take on the role of Twitter CEO, and this person will start leading the social media platform 'in about 6 weeks' so that he can 'take a step back.'
