Common gacha rules of Zenless Zone Zero
Following the success of its predecessors, it's no surprise that miHoYo continues to position Zenless Zone Zero as a gacha game, enticing players through random draws. To try your luck in Zenless Zone Zero, players must complete tasks or events to earn Film, the in-game currency. 160 Film can be exchanged for 1 gacha ticket, with two types available: Master Tape and Encrypted Master Tape.
What's intriguing is the game's slight departure in generosity compared to its well-known predecessors, Genshin Impact and Honkai: Star Rail. Specifically, daily tasks yield 160 film, enough for one gacha ticket. Both previous games only provided 60, or 100 with a monthly ticket, just enough for one draw. Hopefully, this remains consistent when the game officially launches.

Once you've amassed enough Film, you'll delve into the gacha feature called 'Signal Searching' to test your luck. Players familiar with miHoYo's recent games, Genshin Impact and Honkai: Star Rail, will immediately recognize how Zenless Zone Zero operates. All gacha rules are replicated from its predecessors, from the 0.6% rate for Signal S (weapons or 5-star characters) per draw to the guaranteed S within 90 draws.
Other ways to earn Zenless Zone Zero gacha tickets
As mentioned earlier, you can use Film to purchase various gacha draw tickets. Additionally, the game features newbie benefits, similar to Honkai: Star Rail. Specifically, players can draw 5 times x10 for only 8 tickets, and 50 tickets guarantee a 5-star character (Agent). Afterward, these benefits disappear, and players receive one Rank A item every 10 draws and one Rank S item every 90 draws. In Zenless Zone Zero, Rank A and Rank S are equivalent to 4-star and 5-star in Genshin Impact and Honkai: Star Rail.

In this trial version, Mytour also noticed the introduction of a daily login bonus giving 10 draw tickets over 7 days, mirroring Honkai: Star Rail. It's highly likely that this feature will persist in the official game release and refresh with each version, ensuring players have the necessary draw tickets to strike gold with each patch.
Types of Banners and Gacha Rules
Similar to previous games, Zenless Zone Zero has a permanent 'Star-Studded Cast' banner containing 5-star characters, often referred to as rate-up characters. They include Nekomata, Koleda, Soldier 11, Lycaon, Grace, and Rina. To draw from this banner, you need Master Tape, which can be purchased with 160 Film. Occasionally, events and activities also reward these draw tickets.
In addition, this trial version features a limited character banner for Ellen, an S-rank Ice element character. The gacha rules for this banner are no different, except you need a specific type of draw ticket called Encrypted Master Tape. Its cost is also 160 Film. Generally, based on the experience of those who played miHoYo's previous games, spending Film to buy Encrypted Master Tape is the wisest choice.

And of course, the game's limited banners also follow the 50/50 mechanism and a 'pity' system. If you're not familiar with these terms, Mytour will explain: 50/50 means that every time you get an S-rank item, there's a 50% chance it's the limited character and a 50% chance it's one of the 6 rate-up characters mentioned earlier.
In case you get an S-rank but unfortunately don't get the limited character, there's a 'pity' system. This feature ensures that the next S-rank draw will definitely be the limited character. The pity system persists until you get an S-rank, regardless of how much time or how many limited banners have passed. After using the pity system, you'll have to go back to the normal 50/50 odds.
The specific rates for each type of item per draw are as follows:
- Rank S: 0.6%
- Rank A: 7.2% (including 3.6% characters, 1.6% W-Engine, 1.6% Bangboo)
- Rank B: 92.0%
Key Features to Remember
There's a high likelihood that the 'soft pity' feature, previously seen in Honkai: Star Rail and Genshin Impact, will also be present in Zenless Zone Zero. Simply put, it significantly increases the chance of receiving an S-rank item from the 75th draw onwards. miHoYo has not officially confirmed the existence of this feature, but it has indeed been present in their previous games.
In summary, the gacha rules for the banners are as follows:
Regular Banner- Guaranteed one Rank A item or character every 10 draws.
- Guaranteed one Rank A item or character every 90 draws.
- After 75 draws without an S-rank, the chance of getting an S-rank increases in subsequent draws, returning to normal once you receive an S-rank.

- Guaranteed one Rank A item or character every 10 draws, with a 50% chance of an increased rate for one of the Rank A characters.
- Guaranteed one Rank A item or character every 90 draws, with a 50% chance of an increased rate for an S-rank character and a 50% chance of one of the 6 S-rank characters from the regular banner (50/50).
- After 75 draws without an S-rank, the chance of getting an S-rank increases in subsequent draws, returning to normal once you receive an S-rank.
- If you get one of the 6 S-rank characters from the regular banner, the next S-rank draw is guaranteed to be the character with the increased rate (pity).
- 50/50 and pity are retained even when switching to the next limited banner.
Items from Zenless Zone Zero Gacha Banners
When gacha-ing, you have the chance to receive one of three items: Agent, Bangboo, or W-Engine.
- Agent: Playable characters that allow you to form a team for battles. Duplicate characters can be used to strengthen existing characters.
- W-Engine is how miHoYo refers to the weapons for characters in the game, similar to the light crowns in Honkai: Star Rail. Equipping W-Engine to an Agent increases their stats and grants special effects.
- Bangboo: These are interesting-looking bunny (?) companions that you can use as allies during gameplay. Players can select a Bangboo to bring into battle, and it buffs attack and defense stats for the entire team – the higher the Bangboo rank, the more stats it provides.

Currently, Zenless Zone Zero offers both S-grade Bangboo and W-Engine. S-grade Bangboo is a reward from missions, while acquiring W-Engine remains unclear as the trial version lacks a dedicated banner for them. Perhaps they will be featured in a separate banner similar to weapons in Genshin Impact or light crowns in Honkai: Star Rail.
