After consulting the opinions of Ministries and Departments, the Government Office has decided on the holiday schedule for the Lunar New Year 2023 and sent Official Letter No. 8056/VPCP-KGVX to the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs on December 1, 2022. Accordingly, officials, public employees, civil servants, and workers working in state administrative agencies, political organizations, and socio-political organizations under the state in the territory of Vietnam will have a 7-day Lunar New Year holiday, from January 20, 2023 (which is December 29th of the Year of the Tiger) to the end of January 26, 2023 (which is the 5th day of the first lunar month of the Year of the Cat).
This is the plan approved by Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam following the proposal of the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs. During the Tet holiday, state agencies and units must arrange personnel to continuously handle work and serve the organization and people in the best way.
For non-state labor users, they can choose a Lunar New Year holiday plan that suits the activities of their units or businesses. However, they must ensure that workers have at least 5 days off, which can be 1 old year day and 4 new year days or 2 old year days and 3 new year days. If the Tet holiday coincides with the weekly day off, workers will be entitled to compensatory leave according to regulations.
