At an event held in December 2020, Yamaha officially unveiled its completely new MT-03 in Thailand, ushering in a new generation of this naked-bike. So, what are these changes, and how much does the 2021 Yamaha MT-03 cost?

1. What sets apart the 2021 Yamaha MT-03 from its 2020 predecessor?
The 2021 iteration of the Yamaha MT-03 brings a myriad of changes compared to the 2020 version, including:
– Design Changes
Firstly, it's evident that Yamaha has brought a new headlight system to the 2021 MT-03, featuring dual LED clusters instead of the previous single halogen bulb. This gives the 2021 Yamaha MT-03 a much more modern and powerful appearance. This design approach is based on the entirely new MT-09 and MT-125.
Additionally, we also notice differences in the fuel tank design and fairing, which have been slimmed down to provide a more comfortable riding posture.

In terms of overall dimensions, the 2021 Yamaha MT-03 is wider and taller compared to the 2020 Yamaha MT-03 generation, and the weight is also increased by 1kg compared to the previous generation.
– Engine
The 2021 Yamaha MT-03 is still equipped with a 321cc DOHC 2-cylinder liquid-cooled engine, delivering a maximum power of 42 horsepower at 10750 rpm and a maximum torque of 29.6 Nm at 9000 rpm. Essentially, this engine block remains unchanged from the predecessor generation.
Furthermore, the bike is still powered by a 6-speed gearbox, with a wet clutch providing strong and smooth operation for the vehicle.
– On Safety Features
The 2021 Yamaha MT-03 marks the first MT-03 generation to feature an upside-down front suspension. Specifically, this is KYB's 37mm upside-down fork, commonly found on various other sports models. At the rear, it still features a 22.6-inch swingarm.
Meanwhile, the braking system remains a single disc brake for both the front and rear wheels, with sizes of 298mm and 220mm respectively. Both are supported by the ABS anti-lock braking system, ensuring safety for the rider during operation.

The tire set used for the front and rear wheels are 110/70R17 and 140/70R17 respectively, all are non-tube tires.
2. Colors and Pricing of the 2021 Yamaha MT-03
The 2021 MT-03 comes in 2 color options: matte black and black silver, both priced at $4599 (equivalent to 106 million Vietnamese Dong at the current exchange rate) in the European market. However, it has not been introduced in Vietnam yet.
Currently, Yamaha Vietnam is still distributing the 2020 version of the MT-03, priced at 124 million Vietnamese Dong. It is expected that the price of the 2021 version will fall to around 130 million Vietnamese Dong or less.
