Choupette was born on August 15, 2011. In fact, this cat was not originally raised by Karl Lagerfeld but was the beloved pet of his former rumored boyfriend, model Baptiste Giabiconi.
At the time, Baptiste Giabiconi was out for a while, so he asked Karl Lagerfeld to look after the cat. Initially reluctant, Karl Lagerfeld was enchanted by Choupette upon seeing her.

Choupette is a Birman cat, also known as the sacred cat of Burma. This breed is said to have originated from a temple in northern Myanmar, then appeared in Europe during World War II. Birmans were nearly extinct in Europe. In later breeding efforts, most were created by crossing Persian and Siamese cats, resulting in very few purebred Birmans. Therefore, Choupette may also have Siamese blood.
