How to Add Autotext in Word 2016: A Step-by-Step Guide
Adding New Autotext in Word 2016 Made Easy
Step 1: Select the text snippet you want to abbreviate. In the example below, I've chosen the familiar motto: Republic of Socialist Vietnam.
Step 2: On Word 2016's toolbar, navigate to the Insert tab and click on Quick Parts.
Step 3: In the Quick Parts pane, select AutoText, then choose Save Selection to AutoText Gallery.
Step 4: In the Create New Building Block window, pay attention to the Name section. This is where you set the abbreviation for the phrase you intend to abbreviate. In the example below, I'm setting an abbreviation for my phrase as 'ch'.
Additionally, you can add a description in the Description section for your abbreviation if you have multiple phrases to abbreviate. For the remaining sections, it's advisable to leave them as default without any changes.
Step 5: Press OK to confirm.
That's it! You've successfully added AutoText to your Word document. To check if it's working, simply type your abbreviation into your document.
Next, press F3, and you'll see the results as shown below.
