Every document follows general regulations on format and presentation. The Ministry of Internal Affairs has issued Directive No. 01/2011/TT-BNV providing guidelines for the format and technical presentation of administrative documents. Therefore, it's crucial to understand the layout and presentation of documents. This article helps you Align Margins in Word 2007, 2010, 2013, 2016 according to the standards set forth in the directive.
According to the directive, page margins for A4 paper size are as follows:
- Top margin: 20 – 25 mm from the top edge
- Bottom margin: 20 – 25 mm from the bottom edge
- Left margin: 30 – 35 mm from the left edge
- Right margin: 15 – 20 mm from the right edge
Thus, we align the paper margins according to the standard directive.
To adjust the paper margins, follow these steps:
Choose the Layout tab -> click on the arrow in Page Setup:
The Page Setup dialog box appears, enter the values as follows:
- Top Margin: 2cm
- Bottom Margin: 2cm
- Left Margin: 3cm
- Right Margin: 1.5cm
Alternatively, you can adjust the margins to the following values:
- Top Margin: 2.5 cm
- Bottom Margin: 2.5 cm
- Left Margin: 3.5cm
- Right Margin: 2cm
You have aligned the margins of A4 paper according to the standard directive:
Thus, you have set the paper margins. If you don't want to set the paper margins every time you create a new file, click on Set As Default to establish default paper margins for all data files:
A notification dialog appears, click Yes to confirm setting the default paper margins:
From now on, you don't need to set the paper margins, except in cases where you need to reinstall Office.
In case you align the margins of individual paper units in the table and the margin alignment is in inches as shown in the image:
Click on the File tab -> Option to change the default measurement unit in Word:
The Word Option window appears, click on Advanced -> select Centimeters in the Show measurements units of section -> click OK:
With just a simple operation, you have converted the measurement unit.
