Concerns over inappropriate websites are a major worry for parents using iPhones and iPads for young children. However, we can control and restrict these contents through some simple settings outlined in this article.
1. Blocking Inappropriate Websites on Safari using Restrictions
Step 1: Go to Settings => General => Restrictions.
Step 2: Click on Activate Restriction and set a personalized restriction password.
Step 3: Navigate to Website => Adult Content Restriction. You can add other explicit websites to the block list in the Never Allow section.
Step 4: Let's test by accessing Safari and searching on Google with sensitive keywords like 'xxx, porn…'. The successful result will show the content is blocked as shown below.
2. How to block websites with explicit content on Safari for iPhone
Step 1: Go to the App Store and download the Purge app: Best Porn & Ads Blocker Purify... or visit the following link https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/purge-best-porn-ads-blocker-purify-youtube-kids/id303399377?mt=8
After downloading, tap on the app icon and begin the setup.
Step 2: Set up a Passcode for the app, then press Connect to establish a connection to the server.
Step 3: The notification prompts us to add a VPN configuration, press Allow to add. Your phone will ask you to use Touch ID or a password to confirm and add the VPN configuration to your device.
Step 4: Once the VPN icon appears, open Safari and try accessing an 'adult' website to test this feature. As shown below, when visiting an 'adult' site, the browser will automatically redirect with the message This page is blocked due to content filtering.
