One of Android's most beloved features is capturing full page screenshots. Previously, iOS users couldn't do this. Starting from iOS 13, Apple integrated the ability to capture full page screenshots, then save them as PDF files.
The full page screenshot feature is only available on devices running iOS 13 or later. Furthermore, it only works in the Safari browser. Let's hope this feature will be expanded to other browsers and apps in newer iOS versions.
The method to capture full page screenshots works similarly to capturing any standard screenshot, except you have to choose the format to save the image.
- Open the Safari web browser on your phone. Navigate to the webpage you want to capture in full.
- Take a screenshot as you normally would. On iPhones without a Home button, you can do this by simultaneously pressing the Power and Volume Up buttons.
For older iPhone models, press the Power and Home buttons simultaneously to take a screenshot.
- After capturing the screenshot, you'll see a thumbnail of it appear at the bottom left of the screen (similar to the illustration below). Tap on it to open editing and sharing options.
- Now, you'll notice two tabs at the top, just tap 'Full Page' to view the entire webpage.
- Here you can also take advantage of some edits like annotating on the screen with pens, or cropping images as desired.
- Press Done when you want to save the screenshot.
- Choose Save PDF to File.
- Choose the folder where you want to save the screenshot, then press Save.
Share Full Page Screenshots
If you're not familiar with using the Files app on your phone, you might be a little confused about how to share the screenshot you just saved. The Files app is essentially a file management program where you store PDFs, Word documents, etc., for later access. It also allows you to integrate iCloud Drive data into your device, along with any other cloud storage you've set up (such as Google Drive, Dropbox).
To share the saved screenshot, simply follow these steps:
- Open the Files app on your phone.
- Find the folder where you saved the screenshot.
- Tap on the screenshot to view.
- In the viewing interface, tap the Share button at the bottom left corner to open the Share menu.
You can share with recent contacts, AirDrop, or through an app.
And that's how you capture full page screenshots on iOS and share them with your friends. It's unfortunate that this feature is still limited to Safari; hopefully, we'll soon have support for full page screenshots in other apps. Do you find this feature useful?
