How to Change Default Search Engine on Google Chrome

Certain software installations may interfere with Google Chrome and alter the browser's default search engine. This article will guide you on changing the search engine back to default or to any preferred one.

Step 1: Open Google Chrome and select Options (1) => Settings (2).

Step 2: Once Settings opens in a new window, navigate to Search engine section.

Step 3: Right at the homepage, you'll find the section “Search engine used in the address bar”, choose the search engine you wish to use.

The search engine used in the address bar means that when you type in the address bar, the system will automatically switch to search if the content you enter is not a complete link.

Step 4: Next, select Manage search engines to access more settings.

Step 5: Here, you'll see all the available search engines on the Google Chrome browser.

Step 6: To set a search engine as default, simply choose Options => Set as default.

Step 7: If you want to edit the content of a search engine, select Options => Edit.

Step 8: Editable content includes: search engine name, keywords, query URL, etc.
