Checking IP addresses brings many benefits to network systems. Knowing your IP address helps control network components, especially if you're managing a system. Additionally, for the curious minds, trying out TrueIP for checking computer IPs is recommended. It allows you to pinpoint your 'home address' within the local network system effectively. Step 1: To check your computer's IP with TrueIP, you need to download and install TrueIP first. Download TrueIP.
Step 2: After completing the download and installation of TrueIP, upon launching, you'll immediately see various details including your IP address and computer name.
In the IP Addresses section, we have 2 parameters: Local Address and External Address:
- Local Address is the IP address within your local network, your LAN system, typically in the form of 192.168.1.x where x ranges from 1 to 255.
- External Address is your IP address identified when connecting to services, external websites. It's the common address for a network system, not specific to individual machines.
Step 3: In TrueIP, you also have another feature called Copy All Information, allowing you to copy your device information, including Local and External IP addresses, for storage or sharing purposes.
For example, storing it in Notepad, using the Copy All Information function is similar to the Ctrl + C copy function on a computer.
Step 4: When you click on the taskbar icon to open the Options section, you'll have more customization options here.
In the General section, there are options for displaying popup notifications, running in hidden mode, or starting with Windows via Run at Windows Startup.
Additionally, under Check Frequency, you can set the maximum IP check interval, defaulting to 600 seconds, which you can adjust. Below that, there's a quick copy feature for IP addresses with double-click option.
- TrueIP also supports various search sources allowing you to Retrieve public IP address from, enhancing external IP checking. Moreover, the software is vigilant in providing notifications for IP address changes, server-based IP checks, and log file storage.
