The social media giant Facebook is gaining more attention and users by the day. It allows you to send text messages, emojis, images, and even make video calls to your friends and family. Its online chat feature resembles that of Yahoo Messenger and Skype.
Sometimes, you might not want your friends to know that you're online for whatever reason. While it's easy to hide your status on Yahoo Messenger or Skype, doing so on Facebook requires a few simple steps. Follow along to learn how to hide your online status on Facebook.
Step 1: First, log in to your Facebook account.
Step 2: Below your friends list on the Facebook homepage, click on the Options icon and select
Step 3: A dialog box for turning off chat will appear. Customize your preferences as desired:
- To hide your status from everyone, select Turn Off Chat for All Friends.
- To appear online to select friends, choose Turn Off Chat Except for Some Friends, then enter the names of the friends you want to be visible to. Your status will be hidden from all other friends.
- To only hide your chat status from specific people, select Only Turn Off Chat for Some People and enter the names of the friends you want to hide from.
Step 4: Click Agree to hide your chat status.
Congratulations! You've successfully hidden your chat status.
