With just a few simple steps, you can sit at home and change your driving license online, saving time and effort. The regulation for converting driving licenses from paper to plastic (PET) has been in place since 2014, yet many are still unaware and continue to use the old paper versions. With just a few simple steps, you can comfortably change your driving license online, saving time and effort.
1. Register for Online Driving License Conversion
Step 1: Firstly, visit the link http://goo.gl/GOQUlT (applicable in Ho Chi Minh City) or http://goo.gl/h0FH4S (other provinces, cities).
Step 2: In the resolving authority section, select the Department of Transport in your province or place of residence. For example, if you are in Ho Chi Minh City, select the Department of Transport of Ho Chi Minh City and the reception location will be 252 Ly Chinh Thang, Ward 9, District 3, Ho Chi Minh City then click “REGISTER ONLINE”.
Step 3: In the Driver's License Number section, enter your driver's license number (including both letters and numbers) then click “Search”. If found, the system will automatically fill in the information including name, date of birth, and ID number. If not found, it means you cannot apply for a driver's license change online.
Step 4: In the “Contact Information” section, please provide your personal phone number and email address to receive the verification code when submitting the application or for the licensing authority to contact you.
Step 5: If any part is incorrect, you can correct it and submit a request for amendment. Once all information is filled in, scroll down, select the processing registration date (Saturday and Sunday are not working days), and choose the corresponding time slot. If any time slot is full, you need to switch to another date then click “Register”. As noted, currently you can only choose from June 27 onwards because the earlier dates are fully booked.
Step 6: At this point, you will receive the verification code via email or the registered phone number above. Users just need to retrieve the verification code and enter it back then click “Submit application”.
2. Check application progress
To check the progress of your application, touch the option 'Check progress' in the top menu bar. Enter the application code and personal phone number then click “Search”. If the “Status” section shows “Confirmed”, it means success, otherwise, you need to edit the information and resend it.
On the appointment date, you only need to bring your original driver's license, identity card and a photocopy, health certificate, and a 3 x 4 photo to the initially registered address, pay the fee, and receive the new driver's license within two hours. The fee for the replacement is 135,000 VND.
