Turmeric braised fish is a beloved Vietnamese dish enjoyed across the country. The recipe for this fragrant and tasty dish is incredibly simple and requires minimal effort. Give turmeric braised fish a try to elevate your family meals.

• Ingredients for Turmeric Braised Fish:
- Choose your preferred type of fish; for example, if using catfish, about 3 slices will suffice
- 1 stalk of fresh turmeric root
- Juice from 1 fresh coconut
- Fish sauce, cooking oil, black pepper, shallots, chili peppers
• How to Make Fresh Turmeric Braised Fish:
- Scale and gut the fish, then rub salt on it to clean off the mucus and rinse. Cut the fish into small pieces.
- Finely chop the chili peppers. Peel and mince the shallots, then divide into 2 portions.
- Clean and peel the turmeric, then grind it into a smooth paste using a mortar and pestle.
- Marinate the fish with turmeric, seasoning powder, fish sauce, half of the shallots, and chili, let it sit for about 15-20 minutes for the fish to absorb the flavors.
- Heat a little cooking oil in a pot, then sauté the remaining shallots until fragrant. Next, add the marinated fish to the pot and pour in the fresh coconut water. Bring to a boil, adjust the seasoning to taste, then reduce the heat and simmer.
- Simmer gently until the coconut water thickens, the sauce coats the fish, sprinkle with a bit of black pepper and place a few slices of turmeric on top before turning off the heat.
Wishing you success!
