Disabling comments on Instagram posts can significantly reduce interaction and prevent posts from resurfacing from long ago.
Similar to Facebook, Instagram posts can easily resurface if others interact (like/comment) on them. For prolific Instagram users, this can be quite annoying. To address this, Instagram allows users to disable comments on their posts.
Step 1: Open Instagram app on your phone.
Currently, Instagram only supports disabling comments on its mobile platform; unfortunately, this feature is not yet available on desktop. Hopefully, in future updates, Instagram will bring this feature to the desktop platform.
Step 2: Next, navigate to your profile page on Instagram and open the post you want to disable comments for.
Instagram now allows you to disable comments on image posts, albums, videos, and all other types of posts on the platform.
Step 3: Then, select the Options menu at the top right corner of the post and choose Turn Off Commenting.
Step 4: Immediately, Instagram will disable the commenting feature on the post, preserving previous comments while blocking new ones.
The comment icon next to the heart icon will also disappear, preventing viewers from accessing existing comments or adding new ones to the post.
When you wish to enable comments on the post, simply repeat the same steps and select Turn On Commenting.
