Splitting Text into Two Columns in Word 2019
Guide to Splitting Text into 2 Columns in Word 2019
Below, we'll walk you through the steps to split text into 2 columns in Word 2019. You can also perform similar steps in other Word versions like Word 2016, 2013, 2010, and 2007.
Step 1: Start by composing your text as usual to create a document, or open a previously composed document. Then, select (highlight) the portion of text you want to split into 2 columns to let Word know where to split the columns. If you don't select, Word will automatically split the columns for the entire text.
Note: Make sure to select accurately up to the last character, avoiding any unnecessary spaces. For example: If the last part ends with a period '.' and there are spaces before the period, avoid selecting those spaces.
Step 2: Go to the Layout tab and select Columns. Then, click on Two to divide the text into 2 columns. If you want to split the text into uneven columns, like having fewer on the left or fewer on the right, you can choose either Left or Right in the options as described in the image below.
As a result, your text will be divided into 2 columns as you've chosen.
Apart from splitting text into 2 columns in Word 2019 as described above, you can also split it into 3, 4, 5, 6 columns easily by accessing the More Columns section. Refer to this guide on How to split columns in Word 2019 for detailed instructions.
Wishing you all the best!
