Undoubtedly, many of you are already familiar with popular Vietnamese input software such as Vietkey, Unikey, or GoTiengViet. Today, Mytour introduces you to a new Vietnamese input method with many advantages called EVKey. EVKey is a Vietnamese input method created by the author Lam Quang Minh, who took the open-source code from Unikey, modified the interface, adjusted the key sending part from Unikey to applications, added the function to exclude unwanted applications from Vietnamese input, and fixed Vietnamese language errors in the address bar of web browsers and suggestions in Excel. It also supports Vietnamese input on Universal apps in Windows 10. This input method has been optimized to be lightweight and resource-efficient, supporting Windows XP and above. In this guide, Mytour will show you how to download and use the EVKey Vietnamese input method. We invite you to refer to it.
Since the author does not have an official website for the EVKey software yet, you can download EVKey from the official Google Drive link provided by the author here:
https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/12DbnnsOs89D79loTZ_rTuU696qZZPB1_
In the Google Drive link, you'll find the complete collection of Evkey versions. It's advisable to download the latest version marked with the highest number by the author.
After downloading, unzip the files to get four items as shown. Among them, there's one version for Windows 32-bit and another for Windows 64-bit. Just double-click the .exe file, and you can use it without any installation. The EVKeyPortable file is a shortcut designed for those who want to copy the input method to a USB and use it on any computer.
Note: It's recommended to uninstall or disable any existing input methods before using EVKey.
Below is the interface of EVKey. One remarkable feature of this input method is Application Exclusion. With this feature, when you add applications to the exclusion list, those applications won't type Vietnamese with accents.
This feature proves invaluable for programmers as it automatically disables Vietnamese input when excluding coding software, eliminating the need for manual toggling like other input methods.
To add an application to the exclusion list, click on the three-dot icon next to the exclusion line.
A new window will appear; click the three dots to select the application to exclude, then click the Add button to add it to the list.
If you can't find the application to exclude, right-click on the crosshair icon on EVKey and hover over the running application to let EVKey recognize it. Finally, click Add.
To remove an application from the list, simply press on the desired app and click Delete
Additionally, EVKey offers some other interesting features such as support for Metro apps (those installed through the Windows 10 store) and fixing accent issues in suggestions (correcting Vietnamese input errors on the browser's address bar).
Above is the guide on installing and using the EVKey Vietnamese input method. Thank you for following along with the article!
