Google Maps is a widely used mapping application known for its high accuracy. One of its advantages is the ability to use Google Maps across different platforms, from computers to mobile devices.
1. How to Download Google Maps Offline on Android Phones
Step 1: Open the Google Maps app and tap on the three horizontal lines icon (1) in the top left corner of the screen. Then select Offline Maps (2).
Step 2: Tap on Select your own map => Login with your Google account.
Step 3: After successful login, zoom in, zoom out the map area (1) and click Download (2).
Step 4: After downloading the map, we will rename the map to differentiate between cities. Tap on the ellipsis (1) of the newly downloaded map => Rename (2). Then, you enter a new name (3) and click Save (4) to complete.
Step 5: After completing the basic steps, we adjust advanced settings such as automatic map updates... Tap on the Settings icon (1) => Turn on automatic offline map updates and automatic offline map downloads (2) to ensure your data is always up to date. Then, touch Download options (3) and select Wi-Fi only (4) to save 3G/4G data in case you use a limited data plan. After completing these steps, turn off the network and use offline maps.
2. How to download Google Maps offline on iPhone
Step 1: Open Google Maps and tap on the three horizontal lines icon (1) => Offline maps (2).
Step 2: Select Login to download (1) => Continue (2) => Login with your Gmail account (3).
Step 3: Choose Custom map (1). Then select the map area you want to save (2) and click Download (3).
Step 4: After downloading the offline map, we need to name the map for easy identification of areas, cities. Choose Custom map (1) => select the pencil icon (2) => rename the map (3) => Save (4).
Step 5: After completing the basic settings, we can start configuring advanced settings by tapping on the Settings icon (1). For the offline map update item, you should set it to Automatic (2) to ensure your map data is always up to date. For the offline map download time, we should set it to Wi-Fi only (3) to save 3G/4G data because offline map data has quite a high capacity. After completing these steps, turn off the network and use offline maps to see if they work well or not.
