Steps
Accessing Birthdays on Facebook
Launch the Facebook app on your iPhone or iPad. You can spot the Facebook icon, a white 'f' in a blue square, either on your Home screen or in your App Library.
Tap the search icon. Located in the upper-right corner of the screen, this action will open the Search bar.
Enter birthdays. As you begin typing, you'll notice 'Birthdays' with a cake icon in green and white at the top of the search results.
Select
Birthdays from the search results. This will present you with current, belated, recent, and upcoming birthdays all on one page.
Enabling Birthday Notifications
Launch the Facebook app on your iPhone or iPad. Look for the Facebook icon, which resembles a white 'f' in a blue square, either on your Home screen or in your App Library. To ensure you never miss a friend's birthday, customize your Facebook notifications accordingly.
Tap the menu icon (☰). Located at the bottom-right corner of Facebook, this will open the menu.
Scroll down and tap Settings & Privacy. Additional options will appear.
Scroll further down and tap Notification Settings. You'll find it in the 'Notifications' section, situated between the 'Ads' and 'Shortcuts' sections.
Tap Birthdays. This will display a list of options for managing birthday notifications.
- If the switch is already turned on (blue), no adjustments are necessary.
Choose where to receive notifications. Within the 'Where you receive these notifications' section, you can activate Push notifications (those that appear on your iPhone or iPad), email notifications, and/or SMS notifications from Facebook.
- The option for 'Belated birthdays' is automatically enabled. If you prefer not to receive notifications for missed birthdays, simply toggle the switch off.
Helpful Tips
- If a friend hasn't made their birthday public on Facebook, it won't appear on the calendar or trigger a notification.
- An alternative way to access the Birthdays page is by tapping the Notifications icon (the bell) at the bottom of the screen and selecting any current or past birthday notifications.
- To view a specific friend's birthday, go to their profile, tap About, choose See All About at the bottom, and locate their birthday under 'Basic Info.' If it's not there, they haven't made it public.
