On April 16th, the Samsung S9 phone will hit the market. Right now, many people are wondering Should I buy Samsung Galaxy S9 or not? To address this question, you can explore one of the new features of Samsung S9, which is AR Emoji.
AR Emoji utilizes the front camera of the Galaxy S9 to map your face, similar to the iPhone X. However, Galaxy S9 focuses on a personalized experience. The images may seem a bit quirky, but these AR Emoji images are 100% yours because each person can use their own photo to create Emoji.
Step 1: Capture a Selfie
First, open the camera on your Galaxy S9, then navigate to 'AR Emoji' on the top slide bar of the screen. Tap the 'ALLOW' button on the pop-up window to access the emoji creation process. Simply position your face within the cut-out section on the screen, smile without opening your mouth, then press the capture button to take a picture.
For optimal results, Samsung suggests removing glasses and hair from the frame. After taking the photo, choose 'Male' or 'Female,' then press 'Next.'
Step 2: Customize the new AR Emoji
When you press 'Next,' the Galaxy S9 will begin creating AR Emoji. After creation, you can adjust the character in various ways. Samsung offers options to adjust the skin tone of AR Emoji through the slider below AR Emoji or select one of the three other icons at the bottom of the screen for additional adjustments.
Tap the hair icon to choose a different hairstyle and options, similar to skin color. The glasses icon will provide you with various types of glasses (you can choose not to use them). Finally, the t-shirt icon opens a drawing tool with a complete wardrobe for you to try on.
Once satisfied with the AR Emoji image, press 'OK.' A notification will appear informing you that the Emoji can now be used as a sticker on the keyboard. If you do not want to save the AR Emoji as a sticker, click (X) in the top right corner. If you want to save it, press 'OK.'
Step 3: Try out the new AR Emoji
The Galaxy S9 restarts the camera, but now you'll see the AR Emoji on the screen. Tap on the image, and the Emoji will replace you in the camera feed, appearing similar to Animoji on the iPhone X.
You can take photos or videos as usual in selfie mode to capture AR Emoji with the best images. Easily switch back to normal camera view by tapping on different camera settings at the top of the screen.
Samsung has big plans for the new AR Emoji feature on the Galaxy S9. The company introduces 18 animated stickers for AR Emoji, somewhat similar to Bitmojis, working with third-party apps like WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger. You can even share AR Emoji with friends and family, even if they don't use Galaxy S9 or Samsung devices.
