How to hide your Facebook nickname on Android and iPhone
1. Hide your Facebook nickname on Android phone
Step 1: Activate the Facebook Messenger app on your device, tap on the Account icon in the Chat interface at the top left corner of the app as described in the image.
Step 2: Next, tap on Active Status (Activity status).
Step 3: Here, switch the corresponding toggle next to your Facebook name to OFF mode as shown below to go offline on Facebook chat on your Android phone.
2. Hide your Facebook nickname on iPhone
Step 1: Similar to on an Android phone, on iPhone, tap on the Account icon in the Chat interface at the top left corner of the app.
Step 2: In the next interface, tap on Active Status as shown in the image below.
Step 3: Finally, toggle the switch to change the mode from ON to OFF as shown below to turn off Facebook nickname on iPhone.

Step 1: Log into Facebook -> On the Facebook interface -> Click the gear icon and select Turn Off Active Status.
