Once your slide has an animation, you can associate sound with that motion effect.
First, open the Animation ribbon on the toolbar.

Next, select the element with the applied motion effect in the slide and then click on Animation Pane in the Advanced Animation group.

You'll then see a list of motions created for the element in the slide you've just selected.
Right-click on the effect with a timing corresponding to when you want to add applause sound, then select Effect Options from the options list.

The Teeter settings panel will appear; change the Sound line in Enhancements to Applause.

You can adjust the volume of the applause sound using the speaker next to you. Finally, click OK to confirm the settings.

Now you can preview the applause sound in your slide by clicking on the effect line where you've added the applause sound, then press Play From to watch the effect and hear the applause simultaneously.
