Exceeding your data limit can be frustrating. If you're a customer of AT&T, you have several options to check your current data usage. You can dial a special number to receive a data usage report via text, visit the AT&T website, or download the myAT&T app. AT&T also sends automated text alerts when you're nearing your data limit.

- To re-enable alerts, open the myAT&T app, and select 'Manage alerts' from the Usage menu. Toggle the alerts back on.
Minimizing Data Usage

Utilize Wi-Fi whenever available. Save data by connecting to Wi-Fi networks whenever possible. Use Wi-Fi at home and seek out public Wi-Fi when you're out. This can significantly reduce your data consumption while on the go.
- Avoid sensitive activities, like banking, on public Wi-Fi networks.

Switch off cellular data when not in use. This prevents background data usage.
- For Android: Open Settings, tap 'Data usage,' and toggle 'Cellular data' off.
- For iPhone: Open Settings, tap 'Cellular,' and toggle 'Cellular Data' off.

Set a limit on cellular data usage. On Android, you can set a threshold for data usage to automatically disable the connection when reached. These limits are based on your device's estimates and may not be precise.
- In Settings, go to 'Data usage.' Set your billing cycle for accurate monitoring. Toggle 'Set cellular data limit' on and adjust the limit using the graph.

Manage data-hungry apps' usage on mobile data. Avoid heavy data-consuming apps while on cellular data. Examples include YouTube, Pandora, Spotify, and other streaming services. Connect to Wi-Fi before using these apps whenever possible.
- On iPhone, disable data usage for specific apps in the 'Cellular' section of Settings.
