Update Messenger on Google Play
Step 2: Once the update process is complete, open Messenger => Tap on the menu icon (three horizontal lines) in the top left corner => Then select the settings icon (gear icon) in the top right corner.
Step 3: Scroll down the screen and choose Privacy & Safety => Tap on Read Receipts.
Step 4: Finally, toggle off the Show Read Receipts feature to finish.
From now on, you can view Messenger messages from everyone without showing that you've read them.
2. How to Turn Off Seen Messages on Messenger with Individual Options
Step 1: Update Messenger to the latest version by visiting CH Play or the App Store.
Step 2: Once the update process is complete, open Messenger. Here, click on the conversation you want to turn off read receipts => Then click on the avatar + Account name of that contact.
Step 3: Scroll down and select Read Receipts => Toggle off Show Read Receipts to complete.
Now, when they message you, you can view their messages without displaying that you've read them. However, you won't know when they've read your messages either.
