Procedure
Launch Notepad. This application is bundled with every version of Windows and serves as a basic text editor. It allows you to create scripts that automate tasks like shutting down your system.
- You can access Notepad by navigating to the Start menu, then selecting 'Programs' → 'Accessories' → 'Notepad'. Alternatively, simply type notepad in the Start menu search bar, and hit ↵ Enter.
Enter .shutdown.exe -s on the first line. This command instructs the computer to shut down.
Ensure you save the file with a .bat extension. This action will produce a new copy with an icon distinct from a typical text file.
