Guide on disabling weather display on Windows 11 and 10
I. How to Disable Weather Display on Windows 11
1. Use Taskbar to Turn Off Weather Display in Win 11
Step 1: Right-click on the Taskbar => select Taskbar settings.
Step 2: Toggle the Widgets switch to Off.
Alternatively, you can use the drag-and-drop method to pin files to the Windows 11 Taskbar for easier access and opening on the main screen.
2. Disable Weather Display using Registry Editor
Step 1: Press the Windows + R key combination, opening the Run dialog in Win 11.
- Type regedit in the Open field => press Enter on the keyboard.
Step 2: Access the path 'HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft'.
- Right-click on the file Microsoft => choose New => Key and name the folder Dsh.
Step 3: Right-click on the newly created Dsh folder => press New => DWORD (32-bit) Value, rename the new value to AllowNewsAndInterests.
- Click on AllowNewsAndInterests => enter 0 into Value data => OK.
II. How to Disable Weather Display on Windows 10
1. Disable Weather Display using Taskbar
Step 1: Right-click on the Taskbar => select News and interests.
Step 2: Click Turn off.
2. Disable Weather Display using Registry Editor
Step 1: Press the Windows + S key combination => type Registry Editor in the search box => open Registry Editor.
Step 2: Follow the path 'HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Feeds'.
- Then, right-click on the Feeds folder => choose New => press DWORD (32-bit) Value.
Step 3: Name the new key ShellFeedsTaskbarViewMode.
- Double-click on the newly created key => set Value data to 2 => OK. Then restart your computer.
3. Use Local Group Policy Editor to Disable Weather Display
This method is applicable to both Win 10 and Win 11, facilitating an easy way to disable weather display.
Step 1: Press the Windows + R key combination => type gpedit.msc in the Open field => press OK.
Step 2: Open Computer Configuration => Administrative Templates => Windows Components.
- Select News and interests => click Enable news and interests on the taskbar.
Step 3: Click Disable => OK. Then reset your PC.
After completing the above steps, the weather widget will no longer appear on the Taskbar, and the Widgets in the settings will be hidden. Now, you can check your computer's speed, assess the performance of accessories, and test the strength of your PC operating more smoothly.
