Step 1: To enable the Recording menu on the Ribbon, navigate to the File tab -> select Options. In the settings interface -> click on Customize Ribbon -> then look at the right side of the screen -> click on Recording to display this tab.
Step 2: Immediately, you'll see the Recording tab appear on the Ribbon.
Step 3: Next, you can start recording your presentation by clicking on the Record button in the Recording tab.
When you click on the Recording tab -> you'll see various functions displayed:
- Record Slide Show: Used to perform audio or video recording.
- Screenshot: Used to capture computer screen images.
- Screen Recording: Used to record the screen.
- Video: Used to insert videos into PowerPoint.
- Audio: Used to insert sound from the computer and record directly onto slides.
- Save as Show: Used to save the presentation in *.ppsx format.
Step 3: To record audio/video for the presentation -> click on Record Slide Show to see two different options displayed:
- Record from Current Slide... used to record from the current slide
- Record from Beginning... used to record from the first slide.
Step 4: After you Start Recording, the interface will display as shown below:
You will see various icons when recording audio/video with different functions:
- Record: Used to initiate recording with shortcut key R. Press I to stop recording.
- Stop: Used to stop recording video, shortcut key is S.
- Replay: Used to preview the current slide, shortcut key is V.
- Notes: Used to display notes on the slide.
- Clear: Used to delete recorded data with options Clear Recordings to delete data on the current slide and Clear Recordings on All Slides to delete all.
- Settings: Used to configure Microphone and webcam settings if your PC is connected to multiple Microphones and webcams.
- The Eraser icon is used to erase, shortcut combination is Ctrl + E.
- The Pen icon is used for drawing, shortcut combination is Ctrl + P.
- The Highlighter icon is used for highlighting, shortcut combination is Ctrl + I.
- Color palette for drawing tools.
- The microphone icon is used to toggle Microphone, shortcut is Ctrl + M.
- The camera icon is used to toggle camera, shortcut is Ctrl + K.
- The person icon is used to toggle webcam with shortcut Ctrl + J.
Step 5: To start the recording process -> click on the Record button and wait for 3 seconds to prepare -> then speak while recording. If you want to pause recording -> press the I key and when finished, click on Stop to end the recording process.
In case you're recording and your slides have animations for objects appearing, you can speak while simultaneously clicking to synchronize the recording.
You can also use additional tools such as the Pen or Highlighter to annotate, mark important areas, or emphasize points on the slide.
Step 6: You can click on the Replay button to review the recording for any mistakes. You can click on the triangle icon or press the arrow key → to move to the next slide while still recording normally.
Once recording is complete, exit the recording program and return to the main PowerPoint interface -> notice at the bottom right corner, there will be a speaker icon or a recording frame will appear as shown in the image below.
Step 7: To save the recorded file, go to File -> select Export -> then choose Create a Video -> then select Create Video.
After that, choose where to save the recorded video and you're done.
