You might not know, but Powerpoint also supports and enables users to record screen videos and even capture screen images. The steps are very straightforward.

1. How to Record Screen Using Powerpoint
Follow the steps below to record your PC screen with Powerpoint:
Note: This feature is only available in PowerPoint 2016 versions and PowerPoint 2013 updates.
Step 1: Firstly, open a PowerPoint presentation slide or create a new file, then go to the Insert tab, find and click on Screen Recording.
Step 2: On the toolbar displayed on the screen, find and click on Select Area or press Windows + Shift + A. Then click and drag the crosshair tool to select the screen area you want to record.
Step 3: By default, both audio and mouse cursor are recorded in the video. Suppose for some reason you don't want to capture these elements, click on the button in the toolbar to mute the sound and hide the cursor.
Step 4: Click on the Record button (the red circular icon) as shown below or press Windows + Shift + R to begin screen recording. Additionally, you can use the key combinations to pause or resume recording.
Step 5: Once the process is complete, hover the mouse to the original position to display the toolbar again. Click on the Stop button or press Windows + Shift + Q to end the screen recording.
Step 6: Right-click on the video, select Save Media As. In the window displayed on the screen, name the video, choose the file location, and then click Save to save it.
2. Capture Screen with PowerPoint
In addition to screen recording, PowerPoint also comes with an option allowing users to capture screen images.
Note: This feature is only available in PowerPoint 2016 versions and PowerPoint 2013 updates.
Step 1: Create a new PowerPoint presentation slide, go to the Insert tab => Screenshot.
Step 2: Click on the window you want to capture. To select a region on the screen, click on Screen Clipping. This action minimizes PowerPoint, allowing you to click and drag to capture the screen image of any window.
Step 3: To save the screen capture image with PowerPoint, right-click on the image, select Save as picture.
Step 4: On the dialog box displayed on the screen, name the file, choose the format (JPG, PNG, PDF, GIF, BMP, ...) and the file location.
