Using DiskDigger for Android is straightforward. After opening the app, it will display two options: Basic scan for non-rooted devices and Full scan for rooted devices.
If your device is rooted, the app will allow you to select the memory partition to scan. The internal memory of your device typically appears as /data, and the SD card usually appears as /mnt/sdcard.
If your device isn't rooted, click on the Start Basic Photo scan button to proceed and move on to the Scanning for files section.
When using the app on a rooted device, you may see a superuser access request window. Simply press Allow to grant DiskDigger access permissions.
After selecting the memory devices to scan, you'll choose the types of files you want to recover. For better efficiency, select only the file types you truly need to recover.
As the app begins scanning deleted files, you'll see the main interface of DiskDigger displaying the recovered files.
Here, you can choose files to recover by ticking the checkbox next to each file. You can also access the options menu for each file by tapping the three-dot icon on each file.
Additionally, to select a large number of files, you can choose Select all to pick all files via the three-dot icon in the top right corner of the app.
Pressing the Settings button with the gear icon in the top right corner of the app allows you to filter recovered files based on size and file type. If you want to impose a minimum size on displayed files, check the Minimum file size box and enter the minimum number of bytes below. By default, the minimum size is activated when recovering images, filtering out most other images that may be on your device's memory.
DiskDigger offers three different ways for you to save recovered files: Save to an app, Save to device, and FTP upload. To recover one or more files, click the checkbox next to the files you want to recover, then click the Recover button in the toolbar above.
The application itself also recommends using file storage methods through cloud computing technologies such as Dropbox, Google Drive, Email...
