If you frequently watch gamers streaming on Facebook, you've probably experienced frustration when the livestream stutters or lags. However, now this issue can be easily solved by reducing lag when watching livestreams through system settings tweaks and changing the DNS to 1.1.1.1 on Windows.
How to Reduce Lag When Watching Game Livestreams on Facebook
Step 1: To access Control Panel on your device, press the Windows key on the screen, type 'Control Panel'. Open Control Panel from the search results.
Step 2: In the working window of Control Panel, locate Network and Internet and click on View network status and task.
Step 3: The system will lead you to network connection management. Depending on whether you use wired or wireless network connections, click on the connection name under Connections.
In the example, Mytour uses a desktop with wired network connection, the connection name displayed is Ethernet, for laptop users, the connection name will be Wi-Fi along with the network name.
Step 4: In the network connection details section, click on the Properties button.
Step 5: In the detailed properties window of the connection, under the Networking tab, pay attention to 2 network protocol settings: Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) and Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6).
Double-click on the network protocol you are using or left-click on the network protocol, then click on the Properties button.
- Note:
- Currently, in Vietnam, most people still commonly use the Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) protocol.
Step 6: In this step, we will change the DNS to 1.1.1.1 for the device. In this guide on reducing lag when watching game livestreams, Mytour will instruct you on how to change DNS on both Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) and Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6).
- For Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) network protocol
In the General tab, select the Use the following DNS server addresses line and enter the following addresses:
+ Preferred DNS server: 1.1.1.1
+ Alternate DNS server: 1.0.0.1
- For Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6) network protocol
Select the Use the following DNS server addresses line and enter the following addresses:
+ Preferred DNS server: 2606:4700:4700:1111
+ Alternate DNS server: 2606:4700:4700:1001
Once completed, press OK to save and apply the settings. Now you can access Facebook, open your favorite game streaming channel, and test it out.
