Your question reflects the concerns of many current Zalo users. Zalo users have various ways to add friends and communicate with each other. Apart from the traditional method of finding Zalo friends by phone number, you can also synchronize contacts, search nearby, explore chat rooms, add friends via QR codes... Of course, finding Zalo friends by phone number is only feasible if you know the person's phone number.
Many Zalo users prefer not to sync their phone contacts. Because Zalo is a private app, adding contacts from your phone book isn't always desirable. To find out if Zalo syncs contacts, you should read Mytour's guidelines. A single accidental click could add unnecessary contacts to your Zalo.
Returning to the question of renaming your Zalo friends, here's Mytour's response. Currently, Zalo doesn't support the feature to rename Zalo friends in your contacts. However, you can still use a workaround for those friends who are not yet connected on Zalo but are saved in your phone's contact list.
First, customize your friends' names in your phone's contact list as you wish. Then, follow the instructions below.
Step 1: Open Zalo and select Add.
Step 2: In your Zalo profile, tap on the Settings icon. Then, navigate to the Contacts section in Zalo settings.
Step 3: Next, choose the Update Zalo Contacts option. Then, press Update to add friends from your phone's contact list. Their names will be saved as entered in your contacts.
Before applying the trick to change friends' names on Zalo as introduced by Mytour, you should consider it very carefully. Because if you update your contacts, all contacts from your SIM card will be added to Zalo, and there may be people you don't want to add as friends.
