How to Fix Limited Network Connection?

1. Restart the Modem

The first method to fix limited network issues is to restart the modem. Simply turn off the power button or unplug the modem's power cord and wait for about 30 seconds before turning it back on. 2. Configure a Static IP Address

If the network is still limited but other devices can connect to the internet normally, it's likely that your device has an IP address conflict. To resolve this issue, you need to configure a static IP address using the following steps:

Step 2: In the Network and Sharing Center interface, click on Change adapter settings

Step 4: In the Ethernet Properties window, double-click on Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)

Step 5: Next, select the Use the following IP address checkbox on the new window and enter the following details:

IP address: Users input 192.168.1.X (Where X is a number from 2 to 254, and you can choose to input)

Subnet mask: Default is 255.255.255.0

Default gateway: Enter 192.168.1.1

In the Use the following DNS server address section, you can also enter the Google DNS range if you cannot access certain blocked websites like Facebook, for example.

Preferred DNS server: 8.8.8.8

Alternate DNS server: 8.8.4.4

After entering the details, click OK to complete.

Note: If your computer is currently set to a static IP address, switch to a dynamic IP by checking the option Obtain an IP address automatically.

3. Use Command Prompt to renew IP address

Step 1: Press the Windows + R key combination to open the Run dialog box, type cmd, and press Enter or OK

Step 2: The Command Prompt window will appear, enter the command ipconfig /release and press Enter

Step 3: After releasing the IP address, proceed to enter the command ipconfig /renew and press Enter
