To secure tickets for specific World Cup matches, you'll need to navigate through several application phases in the year leading up to the event. Most ticket orders are processed through FIFA.com, while official FIFA ticketing centers in the host country will also provide tickets closer to the tournament kickoff. This process was applicable for the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil and is expected to remain similar for future World Cups.
Steps
Preparation

Get your passport ready. Encourage others joining you for the World Cup to do the same. A valid passport number is necessary for ticket applications.

Collect Personal Information for Your Accompanying Friends. If you're planning to attend the event with friends, make sure to gather their personal details as you may apply for multiple tickets. Each ticket application requires information about the attendees.

Select a Suitable Payment Method with Sufficient Funds. Ensure your chosen electronic payment method, whether it's a credit card, debit card, or secure online payment option, has enough funds to cover the ticket costs.
Indicate Your Match Preferences. During the application process, you can select up to four tickets per household for seven different matches, provided they are on separate match days. Be strategic and list 15 to 20 matches in priority order, considering the high demand for tickets.

Choose Your Ticket Category and Price Point. While you can't select specific seats, you can opt for different categories based on price and proximity to the field. Categories range from one to four, with varying prices and locations within the stadium, catering to different preferences and budgets.
Application During Phase One Sales

Log in to your FIFA account. If you haven't created one yet, you'll need to do so.

Visit the ticket website between August 20 and October 10, 2013. Provide your personal details, choose your desired matches, and ensure to input your payment information. Remember, you can only select one match per day. Once completed, you'll receive an email confirmation from FIFA.com regarding your application during the Random Selection Period.

Keep an eye on your email after November 4, 2013. FIFA.com will notify you of your ticket status.

Return to the website between November 5 and 28, 2013, to apply for tickets during the first sales phase.

Repeat the application process as needed. Apply for additional matches and receive immediate feedback on your ticket status.
Apply During Phase Two Sales

Visit the FIFA.com ticketing website again between December 8, 2013, and January 30, 2014, for the next random selection period.

Apply for tickets to more matches. Remember, you can only select one match per day and a maximum of four tickets per match.

Stay tuned for an email on February 25 to find out if you were successful in the random draw for tickets.

Reapply during the first-come-first-served phase of phase two sales between February 26 and April 1, 2014. You'll receive immediate feedback on the status of your ticket application.
Applying for Last-Minute Sales

Log in to your FIFA account during the final phase. For the 2014 Brazil World Cup, last-minute sales start on April 15, 2014. Alternatively, you can visit a FIFA ticketing center to buy these tickets.

Choose tickets for your preferred categories and matches.

Complete your ticket purchase in real-time. During this phase, you'll immediately know if you've secured tickets to the match, and your payment will be processed right away.

Opt for purchasing tickets at a World Cup ticketing center starting June 1st. These centers are located in host cities and accept payments via debit card or cash.
- From June 1 onwards, this is the sole method to acquire remaining World Cup tickets.
- No restrictions apply based on prior game purchases; all tickets are subject to availability.
Applying for a Ticket Series

Apply to follow your team throughout the World Cup. Choose a Team-Specific Ticket (TST) package spanning three to seven games, rather than individual matches. You'll also select a category, and if your team gets eliminated, you'll switch to supporting the advancing team for the remaining matches.
- Opt for category one TST for premium seating, priced between $578 for three games and $2,998 for seven games.
- Alternatively, choose category two seats ranging from $446 for three games to $2,079 for seven games.
- Category three seats range from $297 to $1,386, with disability-accessible tickets available at this price.
- There might be an additional fee for 'premium match' if your team plays the opening match against Brazil.
- Apply for these tickets as early as possible during the application period. In case your team fails to qualify, you'll receive a refund minus a $10 fee.

Opt for a venue-specific ticket. If your travel within Brazil is limited, select a host city like Brasilia, Rio de Janeiro, Salvador, or São Paulo. The number of tickets included varies based on the hosting duration and are available in categories one through three.
- Prices vary depending on the stadium and category chosen.
- Venue-specific tickets do not cover quarterfinals, semifinals, or final matches; these must be purchased separately.
