The latest version of VMware (VMware 10) allows seamless drag-and-drop functionality from physical to virtual machines for usage. However, this feature is limited to sharing small-sized text files. To share larger files, follow these steps: Step 1: From the VM Menu, select Settings... (Image below)
Step 2: Switch to the Options tab, select Shared Folders, and check Always Enabled. Then, click 'Add' to choose the shared folder (Image below)
Step 3: Click 'Next' to proceed (Image below)
Step 4: Enter a name in the Name field and browse to the desired folder location using the 'Browse' button (Image below)
Step 5: Next, check Enable this share and click 'Finish' to complete (Image below)
This shared folder will be available in 'My Network Places' on the virtual machine. From there, you can swiftly and easily transfer data from the physical to the virtual machine. For more details, refer to Sharing Data Between Physical and VMware Virtual Machines.
