Google Maps has an excellent feature that allows you to share your location with others. This feature helps you provide quick and accurate directions to others. If you're not familiar with how to use this feature, follow the article below.
1. On Google Maps for Android
Step 1: Tap on the location icon (1) => tap on the avatar icon (2) => Share location (3).
Step 2: Tap on the Share location information section (1) => tap on the 1 hour (2) section to adjust the sharing time.
Step 3: Tap on the - + (1) icon to adjust the real-time sharing duration. Then, select the app to share with, in this guide we will share via Messenger (2). Next, tap on Send (3) to share your location with friends.
Step 4: After sending the message containing the location information, the recipient will receive a message with content as shown in the image below. Click on that link to view.
After clicking on the link, you will be redirected to the Google Maps page with information about the shared location and the remaining battery percentage on the sharer's device.
2. On Google Maps for iOS
For Google Maps on iOS, you need to perform an additional step: grant location access to Always to ensure your current location is always updated.
Step 1: Go to Settings => Google Maps (1) => Location (2).
Next, select Always to grant continuous location access to the app, even when Google Maps is closed.
Step 2: Open Google Maps and tap on the Location icon (1) => tap on your current location (2) => Share your location information (3).
Next, select the app to send your location to friends. This time, let's choose Skype (4) => select the recipient (5) => Send (6).
Step 3: After sending the message, the recipient will receive a link as shown below. Click on the link to open it in the browser.
Afterward, you can view the location information and current battery level of the sharing device.
