All Windows 10 accounts come with default data folders including Desktop, Document, Download, Music, Pictures, and Video. Moreover, the operating system consistently stores and backs up this data to OneDrive.
Syncing Data from Windows 10 to OneDrive
If you can merge 2 folders together, keeping Desktop intact as Desktop, all data here will be automatically synced to OneDrive, which is very straightforward. Follow these simple steps to automatically synchronize personal data to OneDrive.
How to Sync Data from Windows 10 to OneDrive
Step 1: Open File Explorer, navigate to the personal folder at C:\Users\Username.
Username: Username varies depending on each computer
Step 2: Open the OneDrive folder, create a new folder to aggregate the desired folders. (Example: Mytour).
Step 3: Within the newly created folder, create additional folders corresponding to the folders you want to transfer. (Example: Desktop, Document, Music…).
Step 4: Outside the default account folder, right-click on the root folder, select Properties.
Here I use Desktop folder as an example.
Step 5: In the Properties window, select the Location tab, click on Move.
Step 6: Choose the new folder you created within the OneDrive folder, then click OK.
Step 7: Confirm the data transfer, click OK.
Step 8: Perform the same steps for the remaining folders.
If you're someone who frequently downloads content from the internet, it might be wise to consider backing up those files to OneDrive. By doing so, you can save space on your limited OneDrive storage and easily access these files whenever needed.
Step 1: Open your OneDrive backup folder.
Example: Here, I'll demonstrate backing up the Desktop folder.
Step 2: Right-click on the Download folder, then select Properties.
Step 3: In the Properties window, select the Location tab.
Step 4: Click on Restore Default, then press OK.
Step 5: A confirmation window will appear regarding restoring the default folder. Click Yes to proceed.
Step 6: Press Yes to complete the process.
After completing this step, the Desktop folder will no longer be backed up to OneDrive.
There are numerous advantages to using this solution. You'll be able to continuously back up your computer files to the cloud, accessible from any computer through a web browser. Additionally, it helps you avoid duplicate files as backup folders are set by default.
You can also quickly back up your Google data to OneDrive, enjoying the best features and cloud computing technology, making the process seamless.
