Cerberus is a giant and ferocious three-headed dog that serves excellently to protect your belongings and transport you everywhere in Final Fantasy XIV. As part of the Final Fantasy XIV 5.45 update, you can now obtain this massive Cerberus mount to roam around freely. However, since Cerberus is a unique and unparalleled mount, you cannot obtain it by trading with other players.
To obtain the three-headed Cerberus mount, you must overcome many challenges, and this article will guide you on how to tame Cerberus in Final Fantasy XIV.
How to Tame Cerberus, the Three-Headed Hound, in Final Fantasy XIV
You will need to complete the latest raid introduced in patch 5.45, Delubrum Reginae, and tackle it on Savage difficulty. This is undeniably quite challenging. Firstly, you must unlock it. Then, you need to gather enough resources to participate in the raid. Specifically, it requires a full alliance of 48 players, a Resistance rank of 15, and 700,000 Mettle. The Delubrum Reginae raid is a level 80 duty, so you and your comrades must coordinate extensively. With resilience, patience, and effective coordination, you will eventually emerge victorious.
If you can complete the Delubrum Reginae raid on Savage difficulty, you will achieve the 'Savage Queen of Swords I' accolade. However, what we need here is the colossal three-headed hound.
To acquire the Cerberus mount, your next step is to find Jonathas in Old Gridania (map coordinates X: 10, Y: 6). After a brief conversation about your recent raid, he will reward you with the Cerberus Horn item. Sound the horn, and Cerberus will appear, ready for you to ride.
So, you can completely obtain the three-headed Cerberus mount in Final Fantasy XIV, although it will take quite some time and effort. An interesting fact to note is that Cerberus is a 4-seater mount.
