As mentioned earlier, there are numerous factors that contribute to the computer's inability to connect to WiFi or detect WiFi networks. Therefore, it's essential to know how to identify and eliminate these factors to save time on troubleshooting. We'll discuss these methods right below.
How to Fix Computer WiFi Connectivity Issues
1. Restart Your Computer
Restarting your computer is a simple way to address various issues, not just WiFi problems, but many other minor glitches as well. The reason could be prolonged computer operation leading to errors, or inadvertent software conflicts or file corruption while using Windows.
2. Re-Activate WiFi Toggle on Your Laptop
This is considered one of the common factors causing your computer's inability to connect to WiFi. The main reason could be your oversight or someone using your laptop accidentally turning off the WiFi detection device on the laptop, resulting in the computer being unable to connect to the internet.
To resolve this, simply use the shortcut key combination to re-enable the WiFi detection device. Typically, you'll use the shortcut key combination Fn + Fx (where x can be a number from 1 to 9 depending on the Laptop brand you're using). However, each type of computer will have different shortcut key positions, and some use hard keys, so pay attention.
For Dell laptops: Fn + F2 or PrtScr
For Asus laptops: Fn + F2
For Lenovo laptops: Fn + F5 or Fn + F7
For Acer laptops: Fn + F5 or Fn + F2
For HP laptops: Fn + F12
For Toshiba laptops: Fn + F12
For Sony Vaio laptops or some other models, there will be a separate button to toggle the WiFi detection device of the laptop.

3. Restart Modem, WiFi Router
Similar to computers, Modems or WiFi Routers may experience conflicts for various reasons, causing the computer to be unable to connect to WiFi, or due to prolonged operation resulting in a hang-up... It's simple, just turn off and on the Modem, WiFi Router, or unplug and plug back in the power, then the device will automatically 'fix' any conflicts, and your computer can reconnect to WiFi normally.
4. Reconnect to WiFi Network
Sometimes, due to certain reasons, your Modem, WiFi Router may malfunction, causing the WiFi network to be undetectable, unable to access, or able to access but unable to connect to the internet. You can try deleting the WiFi and reconnecting to that WiFi. Please refer to the guide on how to delete WiFi on Windows 10 that we shared earlier for your connected computer.
5. Renew IP Address
When you access a router, your computer will be assigned an IP address by the router, and this address may change depending on the situation, not always fixed, so it's called a dynamic IP. However, in some cases, the router assigns the same IP range to two different devices, leading to conflicts, and one or both computers cannot access the network.
The solution for you now is to 'renew' your computer's IP address by pressing the Windows + R key combination to open the Run dialog box and type cmd then press Enter or OK.
The Command Prompt window appears, you enter the following commands and press Enter after each command.
net stop dhcpnet start dhcpipconfig /releaseipconfig /renew
After completing the process and obtaining the results as shown below, please try reconnecting to the internet.
6. Reinstall WiFi Driver
It's not uncommon for users to reinstall Windows themselves and not know how to install drivers, or even install the wrong driver for the device. To check if your computer has been installed with the correct driver or not, you can do the following:
Step 1: From the user interface, press the Windows + R key combination and enter the command hdwwiz.cpl, then press Enter or OK.
Step 2: With the Device Manager interface open, double-click on Network adapters to check if there is a yellow exclamation mark icon. If there is a yellow icon, the WiFi Driver may not be installed or the device may have received the wrong Driver.
To fix this, you need to access the manufacturer's support website, find the driver list for the model of your computer, and download the WiFi Driver package to install. It sounds simple, but if you find it difficult, you can use the DriverEasy tool to update computer drivers quickly. For more details, you can refer to the guide on updating drivers with DriverEasy that we shared earlier.
7. Computer Infected with Virus
Computer infection with a virus leading to the inability to connect to WiFi is also a common issue, with the main cause being the use of untrusted software or the absence of antivirus software protection. The solution for you at this point is to reinstall Windows and use both free and licensed antivirus software to install suitable protection for your computer.
8. Faulty WiFi Card
The case of a damaged WiFi chipset is not uncommon, but the likelihood of this component being damaged is quite rare. In that situation, you can't do anything more than taking your device to reputable warranty centers for examination and replacement.
9. Damaged Modem, WiFi Router
You also need to consider the possibility of a damaged Modem or WiFi Router. In this case, the easiest thing you can do is call the technical staff of your network provider to check for you. This method is quite convenient and extremely beneficial for those who are not familiar with computers and networks.
