While Microsoft provided support for the Vietnamese interface in previous versions of Windows 10, the Vietnamese typing tool was still under development. With the release of Windows 10 May 2019 (1903), the company updated and introduced the Telex Vietnamese typing method for users. In this software tips article, we will guide you on how to use the Vietnamese typing tool on Windows 10 without the need for additional software.

1. Preparation
Ensure that your Windows is updated to at least version Windows 10 May 2019 (1903).
Checking Your Windows Version
Step 1: Press Windows + I to open Settings and select System.

Step 2: Then, choose the About tab and check the Version to determine your current Windows version.

2. Installing Vietnamese Typing on Windows 10
Automatic Activation of Vietnamese Typing
Step 1: Open Windows Settings by pressing Windows + I (or open from Start Menu -> Settings). Then, navigate to the Time & Language section.

Step 2: In the Time & Language section, select the Language tab on the left. Then choose Add a language to add a language to your Windows system.

Step 3: Enter Vietnamese in the search bar and select Tiếng Việt. Finally, click Next to proceed with the installation.

Step 6: Here, you will encounter the Keyboard section featuring three additional keyboards. The most crucial one is Vietnamese Telex; once selected, you're done. If you haven't added it yet, choose Add a keyboard to select Vietnamese Telex.
Note: If you are not using Windows 10 May 2019 (1903) or later, you won't find the Vietnamese Telex keyboard.

Step 7: Look for the 'Input Method' icon on the Taskbar (usually ENG). Then, select Vietnamese Telex to activate the Vietnamese Telex input method.

Step 8: That's it! You have successfully configured the default Vietnamese input method on Windows 10.

3. Some Points to Note
- The input method is still under development, so occasional errors may occur, such as issues with accents, characters, or circumflex accents.
- Currently, only Telex typing is supported, and VNI and VIQR typing styles are not yet supported.
