HP Unveils Revamped Envy x360 2023, Pioneering IMAX Enhanced PC Standard
HP has officially refreshed their popular laptop series, the HP Envy, offering screen options in 14', 15.6', and 17' sizes. Notably, the 14' and 15.6' screens in this lineup feature a 360-degree convertible design.Among these three laptops, the standout is the HP Envy x360 15.6', earning recognition as the first laptop certified with the IMAX Enhanced PC standard. This certification focuses on hardware aspects for the display, including criteria such as screen-to-body ratio, color accuracy, brightness, and even sound fidelity.Specifically, for the HP Envy x360 15.6' IMAX Enhanced PC, there are three display options available: OLED or IPS, sharing the same resolution and ratio of 1920 x 1080 and 16:9. However, the OLED version adds HDR standard with a brightness of 500 nits for SDR and 400 nits for SDR, 100% DCI-P3. The IPS variant comes in two options: 100% sRGB, 400 nits, and 45% NTSC, 250 nits.With the IMAX Enhanced standard, users can enjoy enhanced content on platforms like Disney Plus, Bravia Core, Tencent, not only for movies but also for some games. It's still unclear how the IMAX Enhanced PC standard will enhance the experience on HP Envy x360; we'll have to wait and see.
In terms of specifications, HP Envy x360 14 and 15.6' are equipped with the Intel Raptor Lake U platform, offering options like Core i5-1335U or Core i7-1355U, energy-efficient CPUs from Intel with a TDP of around 15W. The 17' version adds Raptor Lake H options with Core i5-13500H and Core i7-13700H. RAM options include 8 or 16GB DDR4 3200MHz, GPU options are Iris Xe or RTX 3050. Storage options go up to 1TB SSD.HP Envy x360 and HP Envy 17' will feature a dual-speaker system tuned by B&O, continuing the legacy from previous generations, supporting Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3. Common connectivity ports include 2 USB-C Thunderbolt 4 ports, 2 USB-A ports (with Sleep & Charge support), HDMI 2.1, and a 3.5mm jack.Regarding battery life, HP Envy x160 14' will have a capacity of 43Wh, while the 15.6' and 17' variants will come with 55Wh batteries. The 17' version will also have the heaviest weight at 2.5kg, followed by the 15.6' at 1.8kg and the 14' at 1.5kg.The starting prices for HP Envy 14', 15.6', and 17' are $850, $950, and $1150, respectively.
