Hua Mountain Egret Sanctuary – Home to Thousands of Egrets in Quang Ninh
Hua Mountain Egret Sanctuary is approximately 10km from the center of Dam Ha district, known for its archaeological site where many ancient Vietnamese stone tools were discovered. It is also a densely populated nesting area for egrets.

When the first families came to cultivate and settle in this Land of Fields in the 1970s, the white egrets fluttered in flocks. Since then, egrets have flocked to this area more and more, becoming the large egret community we see today.

Since those early days, families in the Fields Village have been conscious not to hunt or disturb the egrets but instead have made efforts to preserve the living environment for them, ensuring the rural village remains tranquil and peaceful. Today, there are various types of egrets here, such as the mosquito egret, the little egret, the gray egret, and the reef egret...

Hua Mountain Egret Habitat – A Three-tiered Sanctuary

During the summer breeding season, the egret forest comes alive, especially in the early morning and evening. Summer is the ideal time to visit and admire the pristine natural beauty.

Exploring the egret forest in winter reveals intriguing discoveries. At the foot of Hua Mountain, archaeological relics remain nearly intact, including unique double-edged sharp tools, the only type found at Hua Mountain.

Hua Mountain is also a revolutionary stronghold, where the first Communist Party cell of Dam Ha district was established. In 2012, Hua Mountain's archaeological, historical, and scenic significance was officially recognized at the provincial level.

A 459-step footpath leads from the foot of Hua Mountain to the Hua Mountain flagpole monument. From there, visitors can enjoy panoramic views of the expansive mountainous forest and observe the pure white egret flocks soaring high in the sky.

To reach Hua Mountain Egret Habitat, travelers can journey by road to Dam Ha district, then turn into Dai Binh commune, and inquire directions to Fields Village at the foot of Hua Mountain. Alternatively, they can stop at the district's central post office and travel by motorbike taxi or taxi to the egret forest.
