As the year-end shopping season approaches, Huawei unveils the Mate 20 Pro, providing the Vietnamese smartphone market with a new choice featuring competitive pricing, performance, and appealing design.
1. Huawei brings Mate 20 Pro to Vietnam, enhancing the high-end segment with more dynamism
The year-end shopping season is approaching, and the introduction of Huawei Mate 20 Pro complements the Vietnamese smartphone market with a new option featuring competitive pricing, performance, and compelling design.
According to statistics from Counterpoint Research, by the end of August 2018, the mobile market in Vietnam witnessed a record growth of 11%. This remarkable growth, the highest since 2016, signals positive prospects for phone manufacturers to continue significant investments in Vietnam.
Significantly contributing to the revenue in the high-end smartphone segment, smartphones priced above 10 million VND accounted for only 5.2% of the sales volume in July 2018 but captured a substantial 27.7% market share in the mobile industry in Vietnam, as per GfK.
Enthusiasts in Vietnam eagerly anticipate the arrival of Huawei Mate 20 Pro.
However, in the final months of the smartphone market, there is a lack of new names. Compared to competitors like Oppo Find X, Galaxy Note9, iPhone XS, Huawei Mate 20 Pro is the freshest name in the market as of now.
The upcoming product will introduce a new choice for the late-year festive season, adding more dynamism to the smartphone market.
Ranked alongside the giants in the premium smartphone category
Huawei truly leaves an impression on Vietnamese users in the high-end smartphone segment from the P20 Pro model onward. However, with a similar price and a substantial amount of accompanying technology, Huawei is gradually becoming a notable name in the premium segment.
'The Mate series targets customers who are business-oriented, focusing on features for business. However, the product can also appeal to young tech enthusiasts, not just business people. Therefore, we bring a high and innovative technology content to the product,' shared Mr. Henry Liu, Director of Business and Consumer Group at Huawei Vietnam.
The Huawei Mate 20 Pro stands ready to compete with smartphones in its class such as the Note9, iPhone XS, and Oppo Find X. The hardware highlights include the cutting-edge 7nm Kirin 980 chipset and a trio of 'unbeatable' cameras inherited from the P20 Pro model. This combination empowers the Mate 20 Pro to deliver smooth image processing and tasks, securing its position as a market leader in camera prowess.
The Huawei Mate 20 Pro boasts several noteworthy features.
'This chip not only enhances smartphone performance but also elevates the photography game. The strength of the Huawei Mate 20 Pro lies in its Leica AI triple-camera setup. Termed AI due to its operation via the latest 7nm chipset, the Kirin 980 chip provides scene suggestions and adjustments, making everyone a potential professional photographer,' added Henri Liu.
Apart from its camera prowess, the Mate 20 Pro claims to be the premium smartphone with the longest battery life. Equipped with a 4,200 mAh battery, it supports 40-watt fast charging and 15-watt wireless charging. According to Huawei's experiences, the Mate 20 Pro charges 140% faster than the iPhone XS Max.
'Battery is a crucial factor for our target customers, the business professionals. This customer group typically uses their phones for one to two days. The Mate 20 Pro, with its large battery and advanced technologies, enables users to go two days without charging. An interesting feature related to charging is the ability to wirelessly charge another compatible phone,' mentioned a Huawei representative.
In terms of design, many view the Mate 20 Pro as a fusion of the iPhone X and Galaxy S9 styles. However, the phone features a 6.39-inch, 2K resolution display with slim bezels, occupying 86.9% of the front surface. This makes it the phone with the largest screen-to-front ratio currently available.
Accessible Pricing and Distribution Channels
Despite its superior design and performance compared to many rivals in its segment, the Mate 20 Pro comes with a quite 'friendly' price tag. In Vietnam, the Mate 20 Pro is priced at 22 million VND, while the Note9 is priced at 23 million VND, the iPhone XS at 30 million VND, and the iPhone XS Max at 34 million VND.
Huawei introduced the Mate 20 Pro in Vietnam on October 23.
In addition to technological advantages, design, and pricing, Huawei facilitates easier access to the product by partnering with retail systems such as Fptshop, The Gioi Di Dong, ViettelStore, Vien Thong A, VinPro+, and CellphoneS. In total, users can purchase the Mate 20 Pro at 2,897 retail stores nationwide.
Aside from offline purchases, users can also place orders online through two distributors, Tiki and Lazada. Moreover, this model is available at Huawei's experience centers.
Huawei Aspires to Secure Second Place in the Vietnamese Smartphone Market
According to Counterpoint's global smartphone market share report, Huawei maintains its position at number 2, with a 33% growth. While the brand at the third spot, Apple, shows no growth, the leading brand experiences a 13% decline.
In the Vietnamese market, as of September 2018 data from GfK, Huawei currently holds a 4.2% market share, marking a 50% increase from 2017. With this growth rate, Henry Liu, Director of Business and Consumer Group at Huawei Vietnam, anticipates the company to secure the second position in the domestic market within 2-3 years.
To achieve this, Henry Liu reveals that the company plans to offer customers more products, providing diverse choices for entrepreneurs, young individuals, fashion enthusiasts, catering to both men and women.
The manufacturer places high expectations on its newly launched premium smartphones.
'We aim to be a brand that covers all customer segments with our products. Huawei has the Mate and P series for the high-end segment. For the younger audience, we have the Nova series and budget-friendly smartphones. Additionally, the company introduces various products such as smartwatches, power banks, laptops, with the goal of building a product ecosystem in Vietnam,' shared Henry Liu.
