The foldable main screen of the device maintains an 8-inch size with a resolution of 2480 x 2200 pixels. The external screen, with a resolution of 2700 x 1160 pixels, follows a triple-screen design similar to the current Samsung Galaxy Z Fold2, rather than the curved display seen in the previous generation.All Mate X2 screens feature a 90Hz refresh rate and utilize OLED technology. The external screen also incorporates a punch-hole design for the selfie camera in the top left corner. The Huawei Mate X2 is equipped with the Kirin 9000 chipset, the first 5nm process chip from Huawei. It integrates 15.3 billion transistors, a milestone for Huawei. The Kirin 9000 features a Mali-G78 24-core GPU with a more advanced architecture than the Kirin 990's Mali-G76 GPU—doubling the cores and achieving a 60% increase in graphics performance.The device comes with a default 8GB RAM and integrates a 4,400mAh battery.In terms of the camera, the rear of the device features a large camera module with 4 lenses, including a primary 50MP camera, a 16MP Ultra-wide camera, a 12MP telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom, and an additional 8MP 'SuperZoom' camera supporting up to 10x optical zoom.The selfie camera on the external screen boasts a resolution of 16MP.
The device integrates EMUI 11.0, Android 10 - this will be HUAWEI's first device using the HarmonyOS operating system, scheduled for an update in April 2021.
Price Tag
The HUAWEI Mate X2 is priced at 17,999 CNY (approximately $2,785) for the 256GB internal storage variant and 18,999 CNY (around $2,940) for the 512GB storage option. HUAWEI will commence sales in the Chinese market on February 25th. Overall, it remains a premium smartphone with an impressive design and high performance.
