Hue Traditional Craft Festival 2013 with the theme 'Vietnamese Craft Essence' was held in Hue City from April 27 to May 1, 2013. Organized biennially since 2005, the festival is a gathering, meeting, exchange, and promotion hub for various strong craft villages in Hue and across the country.

The 2013 Craft Festival will celebrate multiple crafts, primarily in the traditional fine arts and handicrafts sector. The space honoring artisans and craft villages will be organized along the Perfume River with vibrant craft activities. Artisans will showcase their products, interact with visitors, and demonstrate production and creativity.

The festival also displays ancient artifacts, the quintessence of the skilled hands of craftsmen from centuries ago, at the first private Museum of Antiquities in Hue, founded by the researcher and collector Tran Dinh Son, with valuable and rare exhibits.
Especially, the 2013 Festival features the exhibition 'Heritage in the process of transformation,' a touring showcase from France called Métamorphoses. It aims to introduce five sophisticated techniques in the French textile industry and contemporary creations.

A series of accompanying notable events like 'The Marvel' with the presence of Fashion Designer Minh Hanh and the participation of Francoise Hoffmann (France), Patis Tesoro (Philippines), Kinor Yang (Hong Kong); the 'Bamboo Exhibition' from France; an exhibition room introducing the products of 20 artisans, designers, and creators in hand weaving, frame printing, 3D artistic knitting, realistic painting on fabric, hand embroidery, fabric dyeing, and more.

Numerous community cultural activities, street art, installation art, Hue culinary arts, folk games, and responsive events will take place during the 5-day Festival, leaving visitors enchanted by the landscapes and people of Hue.
The vibrant and impressive opening ceremony promises to bring unexpected delights to the audience. Notably, the closing program will depart from the conventional stage setup and instead feature a lively street activity with a parade honoring artists and craft villages along Le Loi Street from Truong Tien Bridge to Ho Chi Minh Museum.

In the recent 2011 Festival themed 'Cuisine and Ornamental Plants,' which proved to be the most successful craft festival with over 100,000 visitors, 3 to 4-star hotels were fully booked during the festival days.
