At Mpenjati, locals can legally bathe naked as long as they adhere to the specific rules here.
Over the weekend, hundreds of tourists flocked to the first legal nude beach in South Africa to indulge in their desire for a 'skinny dip'. This beach, called Mpenjati, located in KwaZulu-Natal, is in a secluded and discreet area.
This location was approved for nude bathing by local authorities in November last year but faced strong opposition from local residents. The opening was delayed until early May.
President of the South African Naturist Association (Sanna) Serge Pavlovic expressed excitement at the opening ceremony: 'We are here legally. We - naturism enthusiasts - simply want to commune with nature and have no ill intentions related to sex'.

Earlier, on April 5th, naturists also had a 'test' bathing session on the beach but encountered opposition from the opposition party. They had to call the police to intervene and the test bathing had to be temporarily halted.
