Some features added to smartphones are just for show, but there are some special features that I find really useful, like the infrared sensor. I'm using a phone with an infrared sensor, and the best thing about it is using it as a remote for almost any device. At home, I can use my phone to control the air conditioner, TV without worrying about where the remote controls are. When I'm in an unfamiliar place, it's the same for me, just a few taps and I can control these devices. In the office, many people use air conditioning, so leaving the remote lying around is common. In situations like that, I can easily grab my phone and turn on the air conditioning for some cool air before searching for the remote. Currently, not many phones have this feature, but I think it's not redundant at all, it's actually quite an interesting feature.
If any of you are using a phone with an infrared sensor, there's likely a Remote Control section in the phone. Additionally, you can also add it as a shortcut on the notification bar if you use it frequently like me. The setup process is simple, just go to the Remote Control section, then tap the plus sign to add a device, choose the type of device, whether it's a TV, air conditioner, or projector. For example, let's say I choose TV. Now, the device will display a list of various brands, you just need to select the correct brand of the device you want to control. Next, point the sensor towards the device, then press the power button, if there's a response, you continue following the instructions, you can try changing the mode of the air conditioner, for instance. Finally, you save the name, and you're done.
