Dubai never fails to allure tourists with its remarkable attractions like the Burj Khalifa, the world's tallest tower, the luxurious 7-star Burj Al Arab hotel, and the frosty wonders of Chillout Café Ice.
Standing amidst the desert, where the average temperature is always around 40°C, what you desire most is a cool space and refreshing fruit-infused drinks. In Dubai, the United Arab Emirates, Chillout Ice Café goes beyond that.

Tourism is a crucial part of Dubai's economy alongside its declining oil reserves. That's why they've come up with numerous ways to attract tourists, turning it into a desert paradise rather than the fiery furnace often associated with the Middle East. Perhaps that's why the owners of Chillout Ice Café decided to create a -6°C space amidst the golden sands.
Adjacent to the Dubai Ski Dome – Dubai's ski slope, the café, opened in May 2013, is entirely made of ice, including curtains, tables, chairs, chandeliers, and decorative sculptures. Plates, glasses, cups, knives, and forks are also crafted from ice. Due to the low temperature, most café staff come from Northeastern European countries like Russia or Romania, accustomed to cold climates in their homelands. Visitors are required to wear warm clothing and shoes to avoid catching a chill, which can be rented at the entrance for a small fee.

To ensure visitors feel comfortable, the ice seats are lined with insulating acrylic. If you still feel cold, you can borrow additional sheepskin covers. Despite being maintained at -6°C, the space remains entirely dry with no signs of melting ice. The café floor is made of non-slip ceramic tiles. Decorative and lighting fixtures are LED lights that emit no heat.

Chillout Café Ice may not be the only ice café in the world, but its location sets it apart. Escaping the scorching heat, sometimes exceeding 40°C outdoors in Dubai, and stepping into a refreshingly cool space is truly intriguing, especially for tourists from tropical countries. You'll need to pay 60 dirhams (about 16 USD or 325,000 VND) to enter the café. The price includes the rental fee for cold gear and one beverage.
