Furthermore, the MacBook Air M2 boasts a thickness of only 11.3 mm - nearly 5 mm thinner than its predecessor, the MacBook Air M1 2020. Additionally, it weighs just 1.22 kg, making it one of the thinnest and lightest laptops currently available, ideal for working on-the-go.

Regarding the interior, it seems that the MacBook Air M2 doesn't undergo many changes compared to its predecessor. One notable difference may be that Apple has opted not to equip the machine with two speaker strips on either side of the keyboard, instead moving them above to optimize the size of the Magic Keyboard as well as sound quality. This adjustment aims to enhance typing comfort and overall multimedia experience.

The machine's casing will continue to be crafted from a single block of 100% recycled aluminum, akin to its predecessor, the MacBook Air M1, contributing to environmental protection while ensuring high durability and excellent impact resistance to safeguard internal components in the event of strong collisions. Additionally, a feature retained from the previous generation is the logically designed Touch ID button located at the top corner.
Performance

The standout upgrade lies in the main configuration, with the M2 chip integrated into the MacBook Air 2022 evaluated to be up to 5 times faster than older Intel Air chips and 40% more powerful than the M1 chip. The device is equipped with an entirely new USB-C charging system, capable of charging up to 50% of the battery in just 30 minutes.

According to the figures released by the company, the CPU performance of the M2 will increase by 18% compared to the M1. The GPU embedded in this chip is also upgraded, with the number of cores increased by 10, providing a performance boost of 35% over the M1. This performance seems to be 1.9 times faster than the 'latest 10-core PC laptop chip'.

Apple also announced that the performance of the M2 chip will be 18% higher than its predecessor. The superior performance promises the ability to use various professional graphic software, unleash creativity in content creation, and render videos stably with high image quality.

Furthermore, the Apple M2 is equipped with a Media Engine, enabling users to handle 8K videos more smoothly, a completely new upgrade compared to the MacBook Air M1. Rendering and editing videos will be exceptionally smooth, undoubtedly serving as a great tool for creating 'million-view' short videos in the TikTok era.
Display

In terms of the display, the MacBook Air M2 now has a notch similar to the MacBook Pro 14-inch version, a significant change in the screen compared to the M1 Air. This improvement has considerably increased the display area, allowing content to be displayed more fully compared to the Air M1.

The MacBook Air M2 comes with a 13.6-inch Liquid Retina display, larger than its M1 predecessor's 13.3 inches. Alongside this is a resolution of 2560 x 1664 pixels, providing excellent image reproduction with sharp, detailed objects.

The display of the MacBook Air M2 has undergone significant changes as it now supports 1 billion colors, with a maximum brightness of up to 500 nits – 25% brighter than the MacBook Air M1. This will undoubtedly enhance your creative media experience or movie-watching, providing vivid and vibrant entertainment.

However, unfortunately, the panel will not be upgraded to a 120Hz refresh rate like the 2021 Pro version, only offering a 60Hz panel like the M1 Air. Nevertheless, it still remains an exceptionally high-quality display, certainly a significant upgrade compared to its predecessor, the MacBook Air M1.
Enhanced Features

In the MacBook M2 version, the MagSafe charging port makes its return for the first time since Apple completely removed it from MacBook Air models in 2015. This is a fantastic upgrade from the manufacturer, helping to minimize the issue of broken charging ports from the previous version that many people encountered.

The webcam will also be upgraded to 1080p from 720p, promising to deliver high-quality FaceTime experiences with family and friends. Especially in a time when remote work is quite popular, this is undoubtedly a significant upgrade from the predecessor, the MacBook Air M1.

Battery life is also a highly concerned factor in lightweight machines like the 2022 MacBook Air M2. Apple has equipped the device with a 52.6 Wh battery, and the manufacturer has stated that with the power-saving capabilities of the M2 chip, this device can last up to 18 hours for basic tasks such as watching movies or working, or 15 hours for continuous web browsing.
Should you upgrade from the MacBook Air M1 to M2?

According to Apple's announcement at WWDC 2022, the MacBook Air M2 2022 will officially go on sale in July in the US market at a price of $1,199 USD (approximately 27.7 million VND) for the base configuration. This is a price point that I find completely justified for the significant upgrades in performance, design, and the return of some existing features on the MacBook Air M2 2022.
If you're a basic user or a media creator who appreciates the convenience of the Apple ecosystem, and values the smoothest experiences on a laptop, then I believe the MacBook Air M2 2022 will be the ideal device you're looking for.
